The big story behind this update is the incorporated ZoomX, which is Nike’s most superior foam. It innovated with the times like every other shoe. The shoe is softer, has a higher stack, blah blah blah, you get the idea. It was my go-to race day and workout day shoe throughout high school and parts of college.įast forward 5 or 6 years later, and it’s a much different shoe now than it was. There’s basically little to no rubber outsole, and the mesh upper isn’t aging gracefully. Maybe it’s not what’s on the inside that counts, after all.īRANDON: The original Zoom Fly was one of my favorite running shoes of all time. Aside from the ZoomX, the Zoom Fly 5 also features a revamped dual-layer engineered mesh upper, padded tongue, and a nice aesthetic. Excitement levels weren’t as high as when we first swiped right, but we were still willing to meet up as long as she split the check.Īfter all, there were other things to be excited about. It’s BYOS (bring your own strawberries) on Wednesdays, so keep the chocolate fountain flowing.īut then we started getting some major catfishing vibes when the leaked photos began showing a different kind of ZoomX in the midsole - the same found in the Alphafly Nature, which is to say - trash ZoomX. So when we saw that the Zoom Fly would finally get the ZoomX treatment for the Zoom Fly 5, we were ready to start making reservations by the fireplace at the Golden Corral. While no official release date information has been made available just yet, in the meantime enjoy imagery of LeBron’s first signature silhouette, the Nike Air Zoom Generation “First Game”. Complimented by golden stitching denoting the playing date – 11/05/03 – affixed along the sock liner, the trio of synonymous tones finishes across the Zoom Air cushioned sole unit and inserted carbon fiber shank. Hits of navy return to liven the blank white Swooshes with an embroidered trim while additionally outfitting the eyelets, heel counter and tongue tab in a luminous metallic finish. Seen below via official imagery, the silhouette harkens a tried-and-true composition to that of its original from the 2003-04 season, pairing its crisp white leather toe cap and midfoot overlay with its latter red jacquard panel. Two decades later, the iconic silhouette that rode with LeBron throughout his Rookie of the Year is now returning for its 20th anniversary. While an 0-2 start to his career would be quickly forgotten, the shoes he wore that night were a victim to anything but, with the white/blue/red pair of the Nike Air Zoom Generation’s being dubbed “First Game”. Suiting up for his hometown team for the first time in Cleveland, Ohio, LeBron James’ first-ever home game against Carmelo Anthony’s Denver Nuggets didn’t go nearly as expected, being handed the loss while scoring under double digits.
